Goldendoodles, like all breeds of dogs, can be prone to ear infections. However, they are not more prone to ear infections than other breeds.
Ear infections can be caused by a variety of factors, including allergies, bacteria, and yeast. They can also be caused by water or other foreign objects entering the ear canal, or by overproduction of ear wax.
Certain breeds of dogs, such as those with long, floppy ears or a lot of hair around the ears, may be more prone to ear infections due to their anatomy. Goldendoodles can have either long, floppy ears or shorter, erect ears, depending on the genetics of the individual dog.
To prevent ear infections in goldendoodles (and all dogs), it’s important to keep their ears clean and dry. This can be done by wiping their ears with a damp cloth after baths and drying them thoroughly. If your goldendoodle has a lot of hair around their ears, you may need to trim it to keep the ears clean and dry.
If you notice any signs of an ear infection, such as redness, swelling, discharge, or a strong odor, it’s important to take your goldendoodle to the vet. Ear infections can be painful and can cause serious problems if left untreated.
